Self Portrait Excersize

I realized that I hadn't drawn myself in a while, so I sat down for a few hours and tried out the new and improved colored pencil tool in Painter 11! It's pretty awesome.

Happy Christmas and all that good stuff.

So it has been quite some time since I've posted much of anything, sadly. I have a few projects currently in the works (including a new site design!) but I thought I'd throw something up to show that I'm still alive. This isn't anything particularly serious, just a quick watercolor I did for a Christmas exchange, for I am poor.

Also, a bit of exciting news, one of my previous illustrations was put on the front cover of The Byron Shire Echo, an Australian newspaper. If you'd like to check it out, here's a link :) Much thanks to them for using my work!

Fillers

pen and ink

colored pencil

graphitelino print

I've started some summer projects, but these are just to fill space and to give me something to post so I feel productive. They're all from last semester. I'll post recent pieces within the next week or two.

Glass Elevator Final

Aaand finished. Well, not entirely, as always, but this is my last project of the semester. I have finished my junior year of CCAD. Hello summer!

Glass Elevator Comp

This is the final piece for my Styles and Concepts class, the assignment is simply to do a piece for your portfolio. It's a poster for glass elevator rides powered by hot air balloons on cables that travel through the stratosphere! Mhm. I'll be doing this one digitally, I believe, in lieu of the comp. For the final, I'm expanding the composition and adding a decorative border, fitting the price into the border, redoing the type, and a few other minor things.

One Down.

The first double-page spread for my Children's Illustration class, pen, watercolor, and acrylic. I also used an iridescent medium on the smoke, but the digital scan doesn't show it very well. 9x20.

The Best of All Possible Worlds

This is actually the first project from my Styles and Concepts class last semester, but I decided to rework the color and value structure in hopes to make it a more usable piece for my portfolio. It's a book cover redesign of Candide (one of my favorite books), bic pen and watercolor, 9x12. The scan got fuzzy in places, I'll have a newer, better image up soon.

MMM Storyboarding.

A few of the double page storyboards for my Children's Illustration project, since I don't do many process posts. One of my earlier character designs was in one of the last few posts. Newer character design and line drawings will be up soon, hopefully. And probably a synopsis of the story that goes along with them as well, I suppose.

Animal Caricature...

Adrian Brody as a giraffe, for my styles and concepts class. It's not entirely done, the keys need worked over, but that'll happen later. It's watercolor and colored pencil.

Fin

Finished! I honestly don't want to look at this thing for a while. I have put waaaay too much time into it. It's not to the level I want, but I had issues in Painter with corrupted files, so I lost a lot of work time before I had to turn it in. I think I'm going to work on painting it in oils over winter break, since the semester is over and I'm finally feeling somewhat creative. Convenient, eh?

Hm. For some reason it looks rather pixelated.... It won't fix, so I appologize.
